Time To Move

You closed on your new home or put down your reservation deposit on a rental home and now it's time to.... that 4-letter word that many despise... M O V E!

It may not be the most fun process but it is part of the process of getting to that new place that you are excited about. Although the moving process can be stressful, we have some fun tricks you may not have heard of before to help make it easier on you.

  • ️First things first, get organized and make a to-do list
  • Purge purge purge - time to channel your inner Marie Kondo and get rid of those things that don't spark joy. Consider calling a local charity to come and pick up your unwanted items
  • Pack an overnight bag with your essentials - some clothes, toiletries, pillow, blanket, etc. The stuff you will need night 1 so you don't have to dig through boxes.
  • Put the things you will need first in a clear bin and keep that with you during the move. Consider things like paper plates, napkins, cups, phone chargers, trash bags, extension cords, and other things you need as you get settled and unpack.
  • Don't want to spend a fortune on bubble wrap? Using t-shirts and socks to wrap breakable items can help save some money.
  • Stick a cotton ball inside your compacts and other make-up containers to keep them from cracking.
  • Worried about open condiments spilling in the cooler? Remove the lid, cover the top of the opened condiment containers with plastic wrap and then put the lid back on. That should help.
  • Moving close by? Remove your dresser drawers, cover them with glad press and seal, and stack to transport them. No packing and no unpacking!
  • Get boxes for free by asking friends to save their boxes from all their online shopping or go to a local liquor or grocery store and they likely will give you what they have from that day's shipments.
  • When disassembling furniture put all the pieces in a sandwich bag (screws, clips, small items), label the bag, tape it to the larger furniture pieces and it won't get lost.
  • Electronics - the big one! Take photos of how you have it set up before you take it apart so you know how to easily put it back together.

Good luck with your upcoming move
