Welcome, 2022!!

How were your goals last year? Did they go as planned?

If not, know that you’re not alone. Many people are stuck in the same pattern of planning goals or failing to complete them.

The start of a new year is the perfect time to turn a new page. If you've been making resolutions every year, let's break that cycle. Instead of making resolutions, setting goals is more likely to result in success. Setting goals gives you long-term motivation, when you set goals, you take control of your life’s direction.

When it comes to goal setting, you need to be SMART - specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-based.

To start, ask yourself the following questions:

What do I really want?

How will I get it?

Once you’ve written down what you actually want, make sure they meet the SMART criteria:

Specific - Your goal should be clear and specific, if not, you will not be motivated in achieving it. What needs to be accomplished? Be promoted as a manager? Sell more than 20 properties this year? If your goals are clear, the more you will understand the process and steps.

Measurable - To track your progress and to keep motivated, your goals should be measurable. To know if your goal is measurable - ask these questions: "How much? "How many?" "How do I know what I have accomplished?." If you measure your progress, you are on track, you can get to your target dates, and when you achieve your target, remember to reward yourself

Attainable - Your goals should be realistic and can be accomplished in a certain timeframe to be successful. The attainability of the goal should be stretched to challenge you.

Relevant - Ask yourself why the goal is important to you, are you able to commit to achieving the goal? Whether you need to make more sales or get promoted to a higher position, make sure your goal is something you can reach given the time and resources.

Time-based - Your goals need to have an end date. Without a timeframe, there's no sense of urgency. If you want to get more property sales, when do you want to achieve it? Is it 6 months from now? If you set yourself with a deadline, the more motivated you will be to achieve your goal.

Make it a habit to set a reminder, something that can make you push forward to achieve your goals. There can be days when you can't get it done, and that's okay. Freshen up and start again the next day. Reward yourself from time to time, you deserve it!
